Organizers' official appeal

İsmail GÜLLE

President of TIM (The Assembly of Turkish Exporters)

Looking at the volume of bilateral trade between Russia and Turkey, we see that its highest level was reached in 2008 and hit the level of USD 38 billion. At the same time, Turkey’s export to Russia reached USD 6.5 billion, while Russia’s export to Turkey amounted to USD 31.3 billion. After that period, because of the global crisis in 2009, oil prices fall, Russian economic contraction, and the unfortunate event of 2015 between our countries, our bilateral trade faced a great fall. Our volume of bilateral trade reduced by USD 16.9 billion in 2016, and due to improvements of political relations between our countries and Russian economic recovery, our bilateral trade increased in 2017 up to USD 22.2 billion and returned to the level of 2009. In the years to come, we would like to reach a rapid recovery of the said losses and to achieve the level of USD 100 billion expected by our President Mr. Erdogan and President of Russia Mr. Putin.

To achieve these goals, it is necessary to abolish restrictions imposed after 2015 between two countries. Also, our companies, especially those from textile and other industries, which have suffered great losses need to be united again and continue working from where they stopped. As to the textile industry, we are still far from the levels of many other industries, such as automotive industry, engineering, fresh vegetables, plastic, iron and steel. We are confident that we will be able to achieve our future goals much more easily if our bilateral trade in these industries reaches the previous level again.

When we consider the number of our companies exporting to Russia, we can see that their number increased by more than 50% in 2009–2014 and reached the number of 6,900 companies. However, due to the difficulties arisen during the following period, reduction in our export efforts affected the number of such companies which reduced down to 3,600 companies in 2016. But this number increased up to 5,100 in 2017. If the trade volume reaches USD100 billion, which is our goal, we expect that the number of our exporters will exceed 10,000.

Shohin A.N.
President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs

Dear colleagues!

We are happy to welcome in Moscow the representative delegation of the Turkish Exporters' Assembly headed by Mr. Mehmet Büyükekshi and introduce our colleagues to the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs has become a basic platform for dialogue between business and government in our country and which successfully defends the interests of its associations and organizations, and the Russian business community in general. The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) consists of 148 branch and regional associations of employers, whose members work in all regions of Russia.

Many members of Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) express themselves actively in the Turkish market: Lukoil, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, Mechel, Inter RAO and others. The work is planned to be started in Turkey to build the first nuclear power plant Akkuyu, which is a strategic object of Russian-Turkish business interaction. According to the schedule, the construction of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline is underway, which has also been declared as a priority area for our cooperation. Turkey continues to stay an important Russian partner in the field of trade in agricultural products.

I believe that the events planned within the framework of the Russian-Turkish business forum will allow us to formulate new approaches and practical proposals that will be used to further enhance bilateral Russian-Turkish cooperation in various fields.

I wish you all prosperous work and nice impressions during the visit to our capital!

Ayupov A.Z.
The Head of the Russian-Turkish Group under the RSPP (RTWG)

Dear colleagues!

I am glad to welcome you at the Russian-Turkish Business Forum “New Era of Russian-Turkish Business Relations”.

It is a great privilege for the Russian-Turkish working group under the RSPP (Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs) to participate in organization of the event which will be visited by honored guests of two countries. We managed to draw up an eventful programme of the forum by combined efforts of our team and partners. We invited leading experts, representatives of large business, business associations, specialized ministries of both countries, as well as heads of regional governments.

The name of our forum was chosen not without reason. As we see large potential in development of business relations between the two countries, the significant increase in turnover planned by the presidents of our countries (namely, achievement of 100 billion dollars in bilateral trade in the coming years) testifies start of new era of Russian-Turkish business relations.

As part of the forum, four roundtable discussions will be conducted: “Motor-Car Construction and Shipbuilding”, “Innovations in Construction Technologies, Construction Materials and Industry”, “Textile Industry” and “Food Products and Agroindustrial Complex”, participants of which will present their projects, share best practices, discuss existing hindrances for development of business and ways to overcome them.

As well, B2B-meetings oriented to business dialogue between the participants will be held during the forum. We will try to make this event not only a place for acquaintance with potential investors, but also a launch site for new joint projects.

We are sure that the forum will give a boost to investment activities and trade of both countries.

We invite you to take part in the forum and wish successful meetings and profitable contracts!
